SLIDE is a platinum ring set with diamonds weighing approx. 1.2cts and a mix of square and baguette cut rubies and sapphires. In order to incorporate movement the rubies and sapphires slide from side to side when worn.

The negative space is just as interesting as the shapes formed by the physical materials. As a fan of the 1920’s art & design period and in particular the furniture designs of Marcel Breuer and the paintings of Piet Mondrian Luke has drawn much of his inspiration from them. On looking down at the ring it has been designed to look like a miniature Mondrian painting using straight lines and primary colours.

Luke commented about winning his award "As I mainly work to commission on bespoke pieces, entering (and of course winning) awards is one of the best way to promote my business. It gives new clients confidence in commissioning you, as they may not have heard of you before and it provides a way of helping them research your work. I love working in platinum, so enter the DIA every year. This is the second time I have won the award, the first being in 2010 for my ICON necklace. The year following my first win proved to be my busiest ever, which just goes to show how valuable winning the award can be. Earlier this year I won a Commended Award in the prestigious Goldsmiths Craftsmanship & Design Awards, so together with the DIA for my SLIDE ring, I'm hoping to have my busiest year to date."
