Kallirhoe Ring
Description of design
The Kallirhoe ring is inspired by an Okeanid nymph of the mythical island of Erythea in the western ocean known as “Beautiful-flow”. The Ring is a combination of platinum, white diamonds, brown diamonds, and indulgently large baroque pearl and blue sapphires, creating a startlingly innovative result. The inner side of the ring’s band has been designed as carefully as the outside with many small pearls which pass through the shank to brush the skin and heighten the sensuality of the piece, making it both visually stunning and also also inviting. The secrets of the piece can only be uncovered through the sense of touch.
Inspirations behind the piece
Pearls were the most fashionable body adornment in the 1920 and ‘30’s, and this symbolic relationship between cultural heritage and body adornment was invoked in the design process for the Kallirhoe ring. Diamonds and pearls are used to evoke past memories, but are transposed into a modern aesthetic through jewellery with the ethos of 21st century design. These elaborate details have been combined with the intense colours of royal blue sapphires, adding greatly to the delicate and intricate detail of the ring. The combination of these elements imbues the Kallirhoe ring with the classic glamour and excitement of the red carpet, whilst maintaining the intelligence of modern contemporary design.
